The Princess and The Fangirl Review

The Princess and the Fangirl by Ashley Poston

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I liked this book. Although I don’t think it was as good as the first novel in the series, it was still a nice adorable rom-com. And! I’m super excited for the next one because it is a retelling of my favorite fairy tale! Beauty and the Beast!
Spoiler Warning
I really liked seeing flashes of the characters from Geekerella in this book, but I wish we could have seen more of them throughout the story, not just at the end.
I wasn’t as much of a fan of the main characters as I was in the first book, but I still think they were cool. Ethan was hilarious and Harper was pretty nice, but when I first saw the cover, I thought it was going to be Imogene and Jessica falling in love. I was pretty surprised when that did not happen. 🙂
I also didn’t know this one was going to take place during ExcelsiCon again, before starting the book. I really like how so far the series has taken place every year at that convention, and I hope that Ashely Poston will do the same thing for the next book.
The ending was a bit surprising but I wasn’t shocked that Amon was the person leaking the script. Not because I predicted it was him, but because it just didn’t seem like something that was out of the question. I feel like maybe the author should have made him a lot more nervous or panicky about the leaking script so we readers would have been sure it couldn’t be him before the reveal. Then I would have been more surprised.
Overall, I have had my fill of contemporaries now and I’m moving on to something a bit darker… Muahahah!! ????
